Welcome To My Website about StarCraft

As most of you may know, Bizzard Inc. has released its newest game, StarCraft II, in 2010 and swept across the world with popularity. It has earned praise from many, including myself, but I will be focusing on my childhood favorite, The Original StarCraft. As of September 2015, I will be anticiping for the release of the StarCraft II expansion, Legacy of the Void.

The Beginnings

StarCraft is an RTS Sci-fi video game developed by Blizzard on March 31, 1998. It gained widespread popularity and is played in many e-sports events even today!

Most of my memories of gaming were when I got StarCraft Battle Chest for my eighth birthday. I constantly played it as I read the stategy guide that came with it. Out of frustration, I would use cheat codes to pass some difficult missions. Over the years, the game got me into PC gaming and other RTS games as well as learning how to manage resources and strategy.

Here are my favorite quotes from some Starcraft units:

The Basics

Because StarCraft is a Real-Time Strategy game, you control a group of buildings and units from a bird's-eye point of view. You command units to move by selecting them with a mouse then click to where they will go.

Types of StarCraft units

Unit Type Terran Zerg Protoss Decription
Builders SCV's Drones Probes They are units responsible for gathering resources and building structures. Preserving them is key for maintaining a good resource intake.
Low Tier Units Marines, Firebats Zerglings, Hydralisks Zealots, Dragoons These units come from the first tier of buildings thus they are the first units on the battlefield and the basic 'bread-and-butter' units to battle with.
High Tier Units Goliaths, Siege Tanks Ultralisks Archons These units coming out of higher tier buildings thus they appearing the the later part of a match. The are more expensive but more powerful.
Air Units Wraiths, Battlecruisers Mutalisks, scourge Carriers, Scouts These units could fly any where on a map attack either by hit-and-run or in head-on.
Specialist units Ghosts, Science Vessels Defilers, Queens High and Dark Templars These units have special abilities and are used as support. They are expensive as well so maintaining them is important.
Transport Units Dropships Overlords Shuttles These air units can carry land units across the map but they are unarmed so preservation is also important with them.

Some Starcraft Gaming Terms

Micro
A.K.A. micro-managing. This is the tactic on focusing on controlling and maintaining a group of units.
Macro
A.K.A macro-managing. This is the tactic of focusing on resource management as well as commanding armies.
Zerg Rush
This tactic, considered amateur by many, involves creating huge armies of zerglings, small Zerg melee units, and have them rush into enemies bases in hopes of victory.
